This is hard to type out. I've felt it coming in some way or another for the last 6 months, but have been putting it off. Unfortunately, I can't put it off any longer.
I want to start by saying that this isn't the end of Teri. I'm sure you've seen many of your small brands drop off as 2022 trucks on. It is a HARD year to be in small business; the landscape is a rough one. I believe that when the terrain is rough we're faced with making one of three decisions: to take a break, to turn back and call it quits, or to push through despite inevitable discomfort. I've decided that it's time to take a break.
As many of you know, I have another business and two kids and we have some other big things happening in our family right now that are all pulling me in many directions. The hiccup of a tough business year for Teri (shipping, supply, etc) is a hurdle I don't have the fibre to jump right now.
I am immensely proud of Teri Co Canada and the product. It was named for my dad with the promise of family time and fun spent with your mats, and I think we've accomplished that! I stand by absolutely every decision I've made in the two short years since I've started, and now Emily and I need to step back to assess what our best next move is.
The hope is to come back clear headed in time for the holidays, but until then we're going to go dark. If you need us before then, we'll still be watching and responding to DMs and emails, we've continued to build out new products and we'll see you soon.
Kayleigh (& Emily & Rosalie)
